Billionaire philanthropist Melinda French Gates has said that the involvement of her ex-husband, Bill Gates, in new documents related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein brought back "very painful memories" from their marriage.
In an interview with the NPR podcast, she added that any questions left in these documents should be answered by the people named, including her ex-husband. “I’m so glad to be away from all this mud,” Melinda said, as the couple divorced in 2021.
The documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice include allegations by Epstein about Gates, including a sexually transmitted disease, which a Gates spokesman called “absolutely unbelievable.” Bill Gates has not been accused by any of Epstein’s victims, and his name’s inclusion in the dossier does not imply any criminal action.
Gates has said that his meetings with Epstein were just a few dinners and that he did not visit his island. "Every minute I spent with him I regret and apologize for doing it," Gates said in an interview.
The documents contain more than three million emails, documents and photos that reveal Epstein's vast network, including celebrities, business executives and world leaders. Epstein died in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
