Collision between Greek Coast Guard and migrant dinghy,

A serious incident occurred on Tuesday evening on the island of Chios, Greece, where a dinghy carrying illegal immigrants collided with a Hellenic Coast Guard motorboat.

According to the Greek media, Protothema , at least 14 migrants are reported dead, some injured, and others missing, as a result of this collision.

It is reported that the Coast Guard spotted the dinghy with the illegal immigrants, signaling them to stop and turn back. This moment caused the people who were smuggling the immigrants to perform dangerous maneuvers, ending in their capsizing.

The exact number of migrants on board the dinghy is still unknown. At least 24 migrants have been rescued, including a pregnant woman. The rest are still missing.

Likewise, there is suspicion that shots were fired from the migrant dinghy towards the Coast Guard vehicle, but this has not been confirmed.

The search for missing persons is ongoing.
