"You're the worst reporter, you never smile"/ Trump clashes with

CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins' insistence on asking questions about Jeffrey Epstein during a meeting the president had with reporters in the Oval Office has angered Donald Trump.

According to The Guardian, the tension began when Collins pointed out Trump's efforts to present the findings from the latest batch of Epstein files as "problematic only for Democrats," noting that the documents also revealed the financier's close ties to two Trump allies - Elon Musk and Howard Lutnick, his commerce secretary.

The president responded by implying the existence of a “conspiracy against him.” When he tried to close the discussion by saying that “maybe it’s time for the country to move on to another phase,” Collins asked him: “But what would you say to people who feel they haven’t gotten justice, Mr. President?”

" What did you say ?" Trump reacted nervously, and from there, he moved on to personal attacks on Collins, a former reporter for the conservative newspaper Daily Caller, against whom Trump has often expressed anger during his two terms.

“What would you say to survivors who feel they haven’t gotten justice?” Collins repeated the question. “You know, you’re the worst reporter,” Trump replied with disdain. Addressing the Republican lawmakers in attendance, he added: “She’s a young woman. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile,” he continued before turning back to Collins.

"I've known you for ten years. I've never seen a smile on your face. And do you know why you don't smile? Because it's quite clear to you that you're not telling the truth..." was his comment.

In 2020, Trump demonstratively walked out of a press conference, The Guardian recalls, after Collins refused to help him cut off another reporter, whom Trump had interrupted for asking a question he described as "malicious."
