"The war in Ukraine could reach a 'turning point' in August and end with the defeat of Russia before the end of the year," the Kiev military intelligence chief said in an interview with Sky News.

Major General Kyrylo Budanov said he was optimistic about the current trajectory of the conflict, which began on February 24th.

"The turning point may be in the second half of August. Most active combat operations will be completed by the end of this year. "As a result, we will renew Ukrainian power in all our lost territories, including Donbas and Crimea."

Intense fighting is currently taking place in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbas, where Russia is currently concentrating its forces but has not made any significant progress.

Budanov said that Ukraine knows everything about the Russians, about all their plans, even from the moment these plans are made.

Russia has so far managed to take full control of only one major city, Herson, and the military offensive that many experts predicted would be quick, has stalled, even with many logistical problems.
