US revokes over 100,000 visas: We will deport them, they were related to...
US Department of State

The US State Department announced this Monday that it has revoked over 100,000 visas for people who have had contact with US law enforcement for criminal activity.

"The State Department has revoked over 100,000 visas, including approximately 8,000 student visas and 2,500 specialized visas for individuals who have had contact with U.S. law enforcement for criminal activity. We will continue to deport these criminals to keep America safe," the State Department said in a post on X.

As Fox News reports, this figure is a historic record and more than double the number of visas revoked during 2024.

The decision comes within the framework of the Trump administration's new policies for stricter visa control and national security.

Most of the revoked visas belonged to business and tourist travelers who had overstayed their visas. About 8 students and 2,500 specialized workers lost their legal status after authorities said they had criminal contacts with law enforcement.

Among specialized workers, half of the revocations are related to arrests for drunk driving, while the rest are for charges such as assault, theft, child abuse, drug distribution and financial fraud.

The Trump administration has announced that it will continue to vet all foreigners with valid visas through a new screening center. It has also imposed stricter standards for new applicants, including a “public charge” rule that could deny visas to those deemed dependent on welfare.

Meanwhile, a federal court has signaled it will temporarily block the administration's decision to end family reunification programs for citizens from several Latin American countries, affecting thousands of applicants.

This development marks another step by the Trump administration to overturn the Biden administration's immigration policies and strengthen measures against illegal immigration.
