US attacks Iran, Tehran responds with missiles and drones on American bases

The situation in the Middle East has reached a boiling point. The United States has announced the end of a series of massive attacks on Iranian targets in the region. Meanwhile, Tehran's response has been immediate.

Iran has responded by launching a wave of drones and missiles towards US military bases, reports the prestigious British media, BBC.

According to the official US military statement, their operation successfully destroyed several Iranian air defense systems, ground control stations and radars. This attack came as direct retaliation after the downing of a US Apache helicopter on Monday.

On the other hand, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has declared in harsh tones that it has carried out coordinated strikes on at least 21 targets related to US military bases in the region.

Facilities in Bahrain and Jordan were also targeted. The alarm has also spread to neighboring countries, with the Kuwaiti army officially announcing that it had to intervene urgently to repel a similar attack that was threatening its territory.

Official Washington has described its attacks as a "proportionate response" to the helicopter crash, but this version has been strongly rejected in the media by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which called the American actions "wild and unjustified attacks."

The backdrop to this armed conflict is linked to Monday's incident, where two crew members of a downed Apache helicopter were rescued in a spectacular operation by a US naval drone. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that this marks the first time in history that such a high-tech tool has been publicly used in a rescue operation.

US officials insist that the Apache was shot down by an Iranian drone, but it remains unclear whether the strike was a deliberate provocation or a tactical error. A senior US official, quoted by CBS News, said that an intensive investigation is ongoing. On the other hand, the official Iranian news agency, Mehr, reports that Tehran has refused to take responsibility for the downing of the US aircraft, further deepening the mystery as the situation on the ground remains extremely tense.
