The death toll from devastating floods in Indonesia has passed 900, with hundreds of people still missing.
The floods occurred after an extremely powerful cyclone formed over the Strait of Malacca last week, bringing torrential rains and massive landslides to several regions of the country.
More than 100,000 homes have been destroyed, leaving entire communities isolated. Emergency teams are working to reach the hardest-hit areas, many of which can only be supplied by air. The military and rescue services have begun dropping aid from helicopters, while land routes remain inaccessible.
The floods in Indonesia are just one of a series of extreme weather events that have hit Southeast Asia in recent weeks. In total, the death toll in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam is approaching 2,000.
