Webcam images have shown how a woman was left to die on Austria's highest mountain after being abandoned by her experienced mountaineer boyfriend.
The 33-year-old mountaineer from Salzburg died on the 3,400-meter-high Grossglockner mountain in January after setting off on a tour with her 36-year-old partner.
When they were just 50 meters from the top, the woman began to struggle and was unable to continue, Heute reports.
The man then allegedly left his girlfriend alone on the mountain for more than 6 hours to seek help.
But during this time, the extreme cold took his life.

Camera images shared in local media clearly show the two climbers' emergency lights during their climb, flashing at 6pm on January 18. Just six hours later, the lights began to dim due to low battery power and the woman's strength weakened.
An image captured at around 2:30am showed the boyfriend continuing alone to descend the other side of the Grossglockner, after leaving his partner behind in the frozen snow with little equipment.

At 7:10 a.m., camera footage filmed a helicopter flying over the mountain, but the rescue mission had to be aborted due to strong winds.
Just under three hours later, six rescuers were spotted on their way up, but the woman tragically died when they arrived.

With the investigation into the woman's death now complete, the boyfriend, who was an experienced climber, has been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence and faces up to three years in prison.
