US President Donald Trump has stated that the Israel lobby is no longer as powerful in the United States as it once was.

"20 years ago, Israel had the most powerful lobby in Congress, more powerful than any other organization, company, corporation or country that I've ever seen. They had complete control over Congress, but now they're not as strong, and I'm surprised," Trump said in an interview with the conservative online portal Daily Caller.

The war in the Gaza Strip seems to have severely damaged Israel's image, and even Trump admits this, saying that people have forgotten the images of Hamas's October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, in which over 1,500 Israelis were killed.

The Israeli retaliatory attack in more than two years, however, has killed 40 times as many Palestinians.

"They may be winning the war, but not the world of public relations. That's hurting them a lot ," Trump said.

The American president, however, states that he has been and continues to be a supporter of this country.

Meanwhile, Belgium is the next country to announce that it will recognize the Palestinian state during the UN General Assembly from September 9 to 23, as announced by Foreign Minister Maxime Prevost.

Belgium thus joins France, Great Britain, Canada and Australia that have announced the same step.
