The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, said on Monday that his subject will cut off and suspend any kind of official communication with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani, due to the punitive measures of the European Union.
He made these comments a few days after the European Union announced that the punitive measures against Kosovo have already entered into force and the institutions in Pristina have been notified of this.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has called the punitive measures of the European Union unjust, while emphasizing that he cannot compromise with the rule of law and the constitutionality of the country.
Opposition parties in Kosovo said they will take various steps to oppose, as they said, the government's policies that are leading the country towards isolation.
The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, said on Monday after the meeting of the party's governing council, that the country is facing the biggest crisis.
"As of today, we are cutting off and suspending any kind of official communication with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, except in emergency or extraordinary situations or to discuss the date of early general elections. These are the people who have brought Kosovo under sanctions from the USA, these are the people who have changed the Euro-Western and Euro-Atlantic course of the Republic of Kosovo and our citizens, these are the people who have already brought sanctions and punitive measures from the EU", he said.
Krasniqi said that their main request is the early holding of parliamentary elections.
"Either through the resignation of Prime Minister Albin Kurti or through the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo because this parliamentary majority and the past elections have not produced these institutions to destroy every relationship of Kosovo with our Western allies and partners", said the president of Democratic Party, Memli Krasniqi.
Krasniqi warned that from Monday his subject will not vote on any legal initiative or decisions in the Parliament of Kosovo.
Even the Democratic League of Kosovo in the opposition has warned of taking decisions against the country's institutions due to, as they said, the situation created with Kosovo's partners. This subject boycotted the meeting of the presidency of the parliament on Monday.
The head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic League, Arben Gashi, said on Monday that "we as a parliamentary group assess that it is harmful for Kosovo and it is impossible to behave normally as if nothing happened. Therefore, we will not participate in the meeting of the Presidency in the future either", he said.
The President of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has warned of the launch of an initiative, as he said, "the articulation of a common social opinion, as a new path for Kosovo, in the face of the conflicting policies of the government of Kosovo with its historical allies ".
He announced through social networks that he will soon start discussions with opinion leaders and journalists, civil society organizations, university professors and former diplomats and businesses from the private sector in the country, to lay out, as he said, "not only the need to build an opinion of the common Euro-Atlantic journey, but also our proposals for getting out of the current isolating and tense crisis".
While the chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, has called on other subjects of the opposition and majority deputies to support a motion for the dismissal of Prime Minister Albi Kurti, due to the sanctions from Kosovo's allies, he said.
"The sanctions of the EU against Kosovo and the warnings of the USA that the government of Kosovo is on the wrong path, prove how dangerous and hopeless the situation is, which unfortunately will continue to deteriorate more and more" , he wrote on social networks, underlining that the motion for the dismissal of Albin Kurti is in the national interest.
Kosovo is facing one of the deepest crises in its relations with international allies due to the situation in the north of Kosovo.
