Albin Kurti presents the governing program in the Parliament
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has given a speech in parliament, before the government's vote of confidence is held. He initially opened his speech with the trial of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army in The Hague. Kurti said that the trial of former KLA leaders is unfair, since the Kosovo Liberation Army fought for the country's freedom.
"The Prosecutor's Office's request is unfair and unbelievable, because it is inconsistent with the historical truth of our people and the justice of our liberation war. The position of the government that I led is the same and clear."
"Crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide against the Albanian civilian population were committed in Kosovo. They were committed by the Yugoslav regime of Serbia under Milosevic. No local or international court can taint the KLA," Kurti said.
He further listed some of Kosovo's achievements under the Vetevendosje Movement. Kurti underlined that VV governs for the majority of the population and not for the minority. According to him, during the time Vetevendosje has governed, there has been economic growth and more has been done for Kosovo families. "We will have allowances for children, as well as for young mothers," he said.
He further emphasized that the average salary in the private sector will be 1000 euros. Kurti promised that universities will be profiled. "We will profile universities," Kurti said. He also stated that many medical services will be free.
According to him, the new government will bring changes in infrastructure, as well as in education. He declared that farmers will be supported, the market will be regulated, production will increase, and agriculture will be supported. Kurti underlined that the security and well-being of Kosovo citizens will increase.
