Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Feldkamp resigned on Friday after a failed cabinet meeting on possible sanctions against Israel.

"I note that I am not in a position to take significant additional measures" to put pressure on Israel, he said. In a statement on Thursday, Feldkamp said he wanted additional measures against Israel.

While in July, he declared the far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, "persona non grata" in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands is among the countries that signed a joint statement on Thursday calling Israel's new plan for West Bank settlements unacceptable and contrary to international law.
