Prime Minister Edi Rama gave a short speech before the start of the meeting of the Security Council at the United Nations Organization, which for the first time in history is chaired by Albania.
Rama once again emphasized the importance of the participating countries to unite in increasing the pressure on Russia, which has launched an "unprovoked war" in Ukraine, causing consequences and shocks in every corner of the world.
"Let's help Ukraine defend itself", said Rama.
"The Security Council will keep the debate open for peace in the context of the war in Ukraine. I welcome President Zelensky. It could not happen otherwise, an unprovoked, unjust war that has brought death and destruction to Ukraine and not only to them. The effects of war send shock waves to every corner of the world.
This is why we must remain engaged, to bring the truth to the Security Council. To oppose the message that seeks to justify the occupation and accession. We need to protect multilateral actions, which seek to fragment further. This meeting is necessary to share ideas and thoughts about peace. Helping Ukraine defend itself today conveys the best message today. A guarantee for those who seek peace and cooperation. We will use this meeting to call on Russia to start the Black Sea wheat initiative", said Prime Minister Edi Rama, who will lead the meeting of the Security Council, among other things.
