Macron: Trump can win Nobel Peace Prize, but only if he stops war in Gaza
Emmanuel Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron, in an interview with the BFMTV television channel from New York, called on his American counterpart Donald Trump to stop Israel's war in Gaza in order to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

"I see a mobilized American president, who repeated it today at the UN General Assembly , he said: 'I want peace, I have mediated in seven conflicts.' He wants the Nobel Peace Prize. But this prize will not be possible without stopping the war in Gaza," Macron stressed.

The French president also acknowledged that the state of Palestine, officially recognized by Paris on Monday, will only be truly established " when the state of Israel also recognizes it."

Macron also warned that France will not stand by "idlely" in the event of Israeli retaliation following the recognition of Palestine.

"We are prepared. We have considered all possible options, which means we will never remain silent. We will defend France's interests everywhere, " he stressed.
