The KFOR mission came out with clarification regarding today's reports that the Serbian gendarmerie patrolled the territory of Kosovo today.

Through a press release, KFOR confirmed that they had a planned patrol today with the Serbian Armed Forces, along both sides of the administrative border line.

They further added that the photo may have been cropped and that the information that the weapon was directed at civilians is not correct, writes Gazeta Express.

According to them, at the moment when the photo was taken, Latvian personnel were coordinating with their Serbian counterparts, who were positioned on their side of the administrative border line.

"The NATO-led KFOR mission wishes to respond to a news story published by Indeksonline this afternoon, which portrays a Serbian unit directing weapons at civilians in Kosovo territory. This information is not accurate and does not reflect what actually happened. Today, around 14:45, a Latvian unit belonging to KFOR was preparing to start a planned patrol synchronized with the Serbian Armed Forces, along both sides of the administrative border line. At the time the photo in question was taken, Latvian personnel were coordinating with their Serbian counterparts, who were positioned on their side of the administrative border line," their announcement reads.

KFOR said that they will continue to implement the UN mandate by providing a safe environment for all communities in Kosovo.

"It is important to note that the Latvian team was positioned further behind their leader, who was involved in coordinating activities with the Serbian Armed Forces. The image may have been cropped to exclude parts depicting the Latvian leader talking to the SAF leader. The synchronized patrol was carried out in a professional manner and in full respect of well-defined procedures. KFOR continues to implement its UN mandate, providing a safe and secure environment for all communities living in Kosovo, at all times and in an impartial manner," said the announcement issued by KFOR.
