Former Mossad chief says Israel entered Iranian nuclear complex before US bombing

Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen stated on Tuesday that Israel had "entered and moved" many times into Iran's Fordow nuclear complex, where Tehran keeps part of its enriched uranium reserves.

According to a statement released by the Galilee Conference, where Cohen spoke, the former head of the Israeli intelligence service also spoke about the bombing of the facility by the United States military in June of last year.

He described the American attack on Fordow as the realization of "all his dreams."

Cohen also commented on the state of Iran's nuclear program, arguing that uranium enriched to 60 percent is "still far away" from a nuclear bomb.

The United States bombed the Fordow nuclear facility last year, during the war with Iran.

Following the US attacks, United States President Donald Trump declared in an address to the nation that Iran's main nuclear enrichment facilities had been "completely and utterly destroyed."

However, later assessments raised questions about the extent of the damage caused at Fordow.

A senior US official later told the New York Times that the attacks on the underground complex had caused significant damage but had not destroyed it.

Meanwhile, an Iranian official told Reuters that most of the enriched uranium at the Fordow nuclear facility had been moved to a secret location before the United States attack.
