Larry Ellison has surpassed Elon Musk for the first time on the list of the richest people in the world, after a remarkable increase in his wealth, which came immediately after the publication of Oracle's excellent results for the last quarter.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ellison's wealth increased by $101 billion, reaching a record $393 billion, while Musk's wealth is estimated at $385 billion.

This is the largest single-day gain ever recorded on the Bloomberg index. It was driven by Oracle's impressive performance, which exceeded analysts' forecasts, as well as expectations for further growth in the cloud infrastructure sector. Oracle shares rose 41% in just one day, while they had risen 45% for the year.

At the same time, shares of Tesla, Elon Musk's company, have fallen 13% this year, despite a new bonus package for Musk that could lead him to the title of the world's first trillion-dollar billionaire, if he meets targets.

Larry Ellison, 81, is the co-founder of Oracle and currently serves as the company's chairman and chief technology officer. Most of his wealth is tied to shares in Oracle, one of the world's largest database and cloud technology companies.

His personal story is as dramatic as his business success. Born in the Bronx, New York, to a 19-year-old unwed mother, Ellison was sent to Chicago as an infant, where he was raised by foster parents. His relationship with his adoptive father was difficult, while his relationship with his adoptive mother was very close. He dropped out of college to care for her when she became seriously ill and died.

With a Thunderbird purchased with his own savings, Ellison traveled to California, where after several ordinary jobs, he began his career in technology at Ampex in 1973. There he met Ed Oates and Bob Miner, with whom he founded the company Software Development Laboratories (SDL) in 1977, with only $2,000 in capital. This later became the company that created Oracle, one of the giants of modern technology.

Over the years, Oracle acquired major companies like PeopleSoft and Sun Microsystems, while Ellison also invested in personal passions, like yacht racing and the purchase of the Hawaiian island of Lanai in 2012.

Ellison has also had connections with other high-profile figures such as Elon Musk (former board member at Tesla), Elizabeth Holmes (former board member at Theranos) and has been a known supporter of Donald Trump.

Despite his age, his recent success with Oracle shows that Ellison continues to be a dominant force in technology and business.
