Russia's acting charge d'affaires in Poland, Andrei Ordash , denies claims that Russian drones have entered Polish airspace.
" We believe these claims are baseless. There is no evidence that these drones are of Russian origin ," Andrey Ordash told the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.
He also told the agency that he has been summoned by the Polish Foreign Ministry regarding the matter.
International authorities and Euro-Atlantic allies have emphasized the need for verification and transparency, while the situation on the eastern borders of the EU and NATO remains extremely tense.
For his part, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told parliament that 19 unauthorized entries into Polish airspace were recorded overnight, most of the drones coming from Belarus.
He added that three drones have been confirmed to have been shot down, while a fourth is most likely to have been hit.
" The fact that these drones, which posed a security threat, were shot down changes the political situation. For this reason, consultations with allies took the form of a formal request to activate Article 4 of the NATO Treaty ," Tusk said.
