US President Donald Trump is threatening to block the entry of migrants from all third world countries, as he wrote on his personal social network Truth.

"I will stop immigration from Third World countries to give the American system a chance to recover. I will stop all those millions of illegals admitted by Biden, anyone who is incapable of loving our country. I will cut off all subsidies for those without our citizenship, I will strip citizenship from immigrants who disrupt public order, and I will deport any foreign national who is a security risk or incompatible with Western civilization."

The White House chief did not clarify who he was referring to with third world countries, as the world is no longer the same as it was in the 1950s when the Cold War began.

He made the comments after a National Guard member, wounded in Wednesday's shooting near the White House by an Afghan refugee, died in hospital, while her colleague remains in critical condition.

The perpetrator, who was also injured at the scene, turned out to be a former CIA collaborator in Afghanistan. The 29-year-old, who did not cooperate with investigators to uncover the motives for the incident, went to the US along with American troops during the chaotic withdrawal in August 2021.

The victim, Sarah Beckstrom, 20, of West Virginia, did not survive her injuries, while the second guard, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is fighting for his life.

The shooting took place at close range near Farragut Square in the center of the capital at around 2:00 p.m. local time. Police arrested the suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, of Afghan origin, at the scene.

Beckstrom and Wolfe were conducting high-visibility patrols just blocks from the White House as part of a federal operation to increase public safety in various American cities. Beckstrom, who served with the 111th Brigade of the West Virginia Guard, had volunteered for the Thanksgiving holiday.

President Trump confirmed her death during a briefing with U.S. troops, describing her as “a wonderful and highly respected young woman.” Local and federal officials have expressed condolences to her family and asked for prayer support for Wolfe’s recovery.

The incident shocked the authorities, as the shooting took place in a very busy area and near central institutions. The rapid intervention of law enforcement made it possible to arrest the perpetrator, against whom serious charges are being prepared, including "attempted murder", while with the death of Beckstrom, charges of "first-degree murder" are also expected to be filed.
