The US FBI says it has found the gun that is suspected of shooting dead prominent conservative activist and ally of President Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk.
Speaking to the media, Robert Coles, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Salt Lake Field Office, said officials have recovered a "high-powered shotgun" that they believe is the weapon used in yesterday's shooting.
"A rifle was found in a wooded area where the perpetrator of the murder had fled" and the FBI lab will "analyze this weapon," Coles said.
He added that investigators have also collected "shoes, a palm print and forearm prints for analysis."
Beau Mason, commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, provided limited information about the suspect who is still at large.
He said the attacker "mingled with the crowd" and "appears to be of university age."
New photos of the suspect were analyzed overnight as investigators studied surveillance footage of the incident. He said they are treating the attack as a "targeted incident."
Coles said the FBI has received more than 130 pieces of information, which are being "fully investigated."
