Famous for the great wealth he has managed to accumulate, for his investments and charitable works, Bill Gates has recently become known for his so-called "prophecies".
The mogul has not stopped talking about existential global threats, such as climate change or future pandemics that could affect the world. His predictions have generally been gloomy, but this time the co-founder of Microsoft surprised with his optimistic statement about the future of humanity.
Asked about the challenges that the new generations may face, Gates said that he believes that those born within the next two decades will live better than those born in previous years.
" I am still very optimistic and I say that it would have been very good if I had been born in the next 20, 40 or 60 years than at any other time in the past ", he said. In October, a Gallup poll found that only 42% of Americans believe today's young people will have "a better standard of living" than their parents.
That number is 18% lower than in 2019 and marked the lowest level of optimism in nearly three decades, based on similar surveys in the past, according to Gallup.
