Suspicions in Hungary of a fake attack by Moscow on the gas pipeline to help
Viktor Orban

A week before the crucial vote in Hungary, the false flag that many were expecting may have arrived. A piece of news, therefore, intentionally fabricated to influence the vote and boost Hungarian autocrat Viktor Orban in polls, which show him about 15 points behind his rival Peter Magyar.

Serbian police allegedly found “two large packages of explosives with detonators” in the municipality of Kanjiza, Serbia, “a few hundred meters from the Turkstream gas pipeline” that transports gas from Turkey through Serbia to Hungary, Aleksandar Vucic announced yesterday. The alleged news, communicated by the pro-Russian Serbian Prime Minister, came after Orban announced that an attack had been prevented on a “critical infrastructure” connecting the two countries. So much so that the Hungarians convened the Security Council yesterday afternoon. The Prime Minister then said that “an investigation is underway” and after Orban’s harsh campaign against Ukraine, one can imagine what the outcome of the “investigation” would be.

Suspicions of a fake sabotage orchestrated by Moscow

The comment in X by Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski sums up the reaction of the rest of Europe: “A convenient and suspicious time”. As investigative journalist Szabolcs Panyi recalled yesterday, “what we all feared is happening: Russia expert Andras Racs had written three days ago that there would be a false flag in Serbia over the gas pipeline”. Various Hungarian journalists, including Panyi, have warned in recent weeks that the Kremlin would build fake news to influence Hungarian opinion, fueling a violent, pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian climate that has characterized Orbán’s entire campaign. The prime minister visited the Hungarian section of the pipeline yesterday after the alleged sabotage attempt and sounded the alarm: “We are on maximum alert, if this pipeline is blocked, the Hungarian economy will stop”.

"Moscow services have suggested staging a fake assassination attempt on the prime minister"

The Washington Post revealed two weeks ago that Vladimir Putin's secret services had even suggested to the Hungarians to stage a fake assassination attempt on Orbán to get him back in the race against Peter Magyar. According to Szabolcs Panyi, on the wave of the alleged bomb threat at the Turkstream gas pipeline, the Hungarian prime minister "could declare a state of emergency, significantly affecting the election campaign, which he is losing, and potentially undermining the organization of the April 12 elections." The autocrat's rival and favorite in the polls, Peter Magyar, has also denounced the false flag that could have been built by the Kremlin and the two governments most inclined towards Putin, Hungary and Serbia, to save Orbán. He has called on the prime minister to "stop spreading panic and causing confusion, as planned by his Russian advisers."/ La Repubblica
