The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, has criticized the conviction of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and his co-defendants, describing the court outcome as a "caricature of justice" designed to minimize crimes committed against Serbs and to amnesty the actions of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Dodik expressed his anger in a post on the X platform following the court's decision, which sentenced Thaçi to 25 years in prison after finding him guilty of war crimes, including arbitrary detention, cruel treatment, torture and murder.
"It is shameful that the systematic killing of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija was not qualified as a war crime against humanity, but rather it seems as if they died as accidental bystanders. Thaçi was the ideologist and leader of a terrorist organization, a direct and ordering perpetrator," Dodik declared.
Dodik argued that these essential factors were deliberately ignored by the court, claiming that the proceedings showed a broader bias against Serbian victims of the conflict.
"We have known for a long time that there is no justice or law in The Hague, but now we know for sure that there is neither respect nor compassion for the Serbian victims. The fact that the trial was held 25 years after the crimes were committed shows that the aim was to cover up those crimes," Dodik wrote.
