"Will you come and get me? I'm very afraid"/ She called the
Little Hind Rajab

"Come get me. Will you come and get me?". "I am very afraid. Please, come."

Her small, terrified, pleading voice will forever remain trapped in the macabre memories of the Gaza war. Come save me, six-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab pleaded with the Palestinian Red Crescent doctors. She was in the car, sandwiched between the dead bodies of her uncle, cousin and other family members. They were fleeing Gaza City and, according to the Red Crescent, encountered Israeli tanks that opened fire.

The little girl was last seen about two weeks ago when she was trapped in a car with her dead relatives as they tried to leave Gaza City.

Everyone was looking for Hindi for almost two weeks. "Where has he gone?", were the headlines of the newspapers. That chilling phone call was also the only hope the family – the mother, the grandfather – had to think about the little girl who was still alive.

But no, it didn't: Hind Rajab is dead. Today his body was found in the car from which the call came, next to those of his family members.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, two doctors sent to search for the little girl were killed by Israeli forces.

"Hindi and everyone else in the car were martyred," the little girl's grandfather, Baha Hamada, told AFP. Her body was discovered by several family members who went to the Tel al-Haa area of Gaza City looking for the car near a gas station where she was last seen.

"They were able to reach the area because the Israeli forces withdrew at dawn today," Hamada added.

The Hamas-run Gaza Strip Ministry of Health confirmed Hind's death. "She was killed by (Israeli) occupying forces along with all those who were with her in the car outside the Tel al-Haa gas station," the ministry said in a statement.
