Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a long interview to the American journalist Tucker Carlson, which has created a lot of noise on social networks.
Many have accused Carlson of being a poor journalist for not confronting Putin, allowing him, in a two-hour interview, to talk for 25 minutes straight about the history of Russia from the 800s to the time of the Soviet Union.
Carlson's critics say that the American journalist gave Putin the opportunity to spread his propaganda in the West, in an interview that was viewed over 100 million times within 12 hours.
Putin touched on several moments, where he also spoke about Serbia. The Russian president said that Serbia is a nation that has suffered a lot, and yet the US chose to bomb Belgrade.
"Do you remember the developments in Yugoslavia, before Boris Yeltsin was showered with praise? As soon as the developments in Yugoslavia began, he raised his voice in support of the Serbs. And we could not help raising our voice in support of the Serbs. I understand that there were complex processes, but there is no way that Russia does not raise its voice in support of the Serbs, because the special Serbs are close to us, with the Orthodox culture and others... It is a nation that has suffered so much for generations .
What matters is that Yeltsin expressed his support. What did the US do? In violation of international law and UN chapters, it began to bomb Belgrade. It was the US that let the genie out of the bottle. Now they say that international law is important, wasn't it then? I became president in 2000, and I said "ok", the Yugoslav issue is over, now we need to establish ties", declared Putin.
