US Embassy warns that protests in Pristina could escalate

The United States Embassy in Pristina has warned citizens about the continuation of protests in the capital, urging them to avoid areas where demonstrations and large gatherings are taking place, and has said that they could escalate quickly.

The embassy, through a press release, said that protests could continue in the coming days, potentially including other cities in Kosovo.

"Large gatherings can escalate quickly and without warning, and can cause road closures, diversions, and significant traffic disruptions."

"Please avoid areas where protests and large gatherings are taking place. Remain vigilant, pay attention to your surroundings, and follow local media and the Embassy's website for updates," the Embassy statement said.

This is the Embassy's second reaction today, as another protest has been announced for 9:00 PM.

Friday's protest, at 12:00, gathered thousands of citizens demanding freedom and justice for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi.

All these reactions from citizens come after the conviction of the liberators of Kosovo by the Special Court, which sentenced Thaçi to 25 years, Krasniqi to 25 years, Veseli to 18 years, and Selimi to 13 years in prison.
