After eliminating Veliaj from the political scene, Balluku extends his tentacles

After taking all the measures to politically assassinate the imprisoned mayor Erion Veliaj, Edi Rama is planning how Tirana will be governed in detail. Apparently, the main role in this project will be played by the "dismissed" Bela, and this was noticed yesterday, at the prime minister's meeting with the mayor, ministers and deputies of the Tirana district. Everything happened after the speech in front of the cameras ended and they were turned off, ending the live broadcast. Rama repeated once again the message that it is not known what will happen with the early elections, whether there will be such or not, and then left, delegating the powers to his ministers.

Formally, in the absence of Erion Veliaj and after all his trusted leaders have been eliminated from office, Rama has delegated the management of the municipality to four ministers: Ogerta Manastirliu, who will deal with structures, Blendi Gonxha, who will cover traffic, transportation and parking, Petrit Malaj, who will oversee finances, and above all Belinda Balluku, who will not only be responsible for services, but who will also be the boss's eyes and ears for what happens in the place left vacant by Veliaj.

This was also understood from the speech that Bela gave yesterday, in front of the deputies and directors of the municipality, after Rama's departure. A source inside the meeting confessed to Lapsi.al that her tone was harsh and critical, like the true mistress of this institution. Balluku has often been accused of having a fierce rivalry with "Lali", that she indirectly financed the opposition protests in front of the municipality and she has even been whipped by a number of pro-government and pro-Veliaj media outlets for having prepared the file with the anonymous name of Nesti Angoni, to imprison her enemy brother.

"If all that you say were true, Balluku did not hide on Monday that she was in the place where she belonged," continued the Lapsi.al source. "It was no coincidence that after Rama spoke in general, also dealing with Theth in front of the cameras, he left the leadership of the meeting for Tirana to Bela," he emphasized on condition of anonymity.

According to this account, Balluku has been blunt and arrogant. "I will be more direct than my ministerial colleagues. I know the problems of this municipality well because I was part of it in the past," the deputy prime minister addressed the directors, implying that she was in control of the situation and did not expect to be opposed by anyone. She has lashed out at them for their lack of cooperation with the government, implying that now the municipality of Tirana has a master. Even her younger brother, the Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj, when he took the floor in his arrogant style, emphasized - of course not without permission - the numerous expenses that the municipality had, inherited from the time of Veliaj for income that it collected mainly from the construction industry.

"When the meeting ended, the directors and employees of the municipality did not know whether to be happy that Rama did not demand mass resignations here and did not articulate strong criticism, or to be upset about the fact that he was leaving Belinda Balluku, who is known for her proverbial behavior with subordinates with whom she has nothing to share, in charge. Not even in their wildest nightmares did these leaders from Lali's time imagine that they would end up in Bela's hands," commented Lapsi's source.

It is still not known whether this unscrupulous command of Balluku by Rama was done simply to coordinate the smooth running of the daily work in the institution or whether it is also related to the hypothesis of early elections in Tirana, which the prime minister once again left open as if it would not be decided by him, but by the judiciary. Belinda Balluku's name has been discussed among the socialists for a possible candidacy for Tirana, and for many she is a stronger contender (especially after the test she passed in Fier) than Elisa Spiropali or Blendi Gonxhe, who are said to have set their sights on this post.

But anyway, although in two statements in a row Rama has left open the possibility of uniting Tirana with the 3 other municipalities that will be involved in early elections, it seems that he has not made the final decision to dismiss Veliaj, who, after his request for a more lenient arrest measure was denied even by the Supreme Court, no longer seems to have a political future./ lapsi.al
