Reconstruction remains an unclosed wound for many citizens of Durrës. While many families have not yet entered the new apartments for 6 years, they have also lost the rent bonus, as they have not been receiving it for three years.

But it seems that the funds have been turned into rewards for Municipality officials, but also for the coordinators of the Socialist Party, for whom there has been no shortage of benefits, which are related to staggering amounts.

Gerald Gjergj Dautaj, the coordinator of neighborhood number 10 of the SP is a concrete example of what is happening in Durrës, to which Sako has given 2,617,558 ALL and otherwise 26 thousand euros. Dautaj has repaired the Durrës and Durrës Water Supply and Sewerage Supply, but a year ago he left. He has become a beneficiary of the grant by decision of the municipal council, while the apartment which has been damaged is a 2+1 apartment. The case has also brought the reaction of the DP Durrës Branch, as his apartment, according to this branch of the blue headquarters, has not been damaged. "A clear confirmation of the gap created, where some are of the mother and some of the stepmother! Is this the reason why the Municipality of Durrës has not accepted the DP's request for an investigation into the reconstruction? How many cases of abuse are hidden behind the blocking of the investigation?", wrote the PD Durrës branch on Facebook.

The case raises major questions that reconstruction grants are being unfairly obtained by individuals who have not been affected. And those who faced the aftermath of the 2019 earthquake have already taken to the streets.
