An operation by several institutions was finalized at noon on July 29 in Delvina, where two people were arrested and two others were declared wanted. These are the owners and directors of the concession company "Delvina Gas", which administers the gas field in the southern city under concession.
The concession has passed through several hands, with the majority owner now being Mr. Sokol Meqemeja, who, in addition to food and meat scandals, is now also managing some public assets. Officially, after the action by the IKMT, the Environmental Inspectorate and the State Police, it was announced that Meqemeja and his directors were building a TPP without a permit.
Sources from the State Police and the IKMT told VoxNews that the concessionaire is also suspected of the huge fire that broke out in Delvina. The construction of the TEC is suspected of having caused the fire, as for many years, the flame from the company's pipes has never been extinguished. Residents have constantly complained about the bad smell and the danger that the area was threatened by that fire, but none of the institutions has intervened!

The editorial staff of VoxNews has numerous photos of a chimney at the gas field in Delvina, which remains lit all the time. The police and the IKMT carried out an operation in the area where the chimney is located, and they also found illegal construction.
There are strong suspicions that the chimney flame may have caused the massive fire in the Delvina area, aided by high temperatures and strong winds. In fact, houses were burned in that area, along with a huge area of citrus trees, forests and olive groves.
In addition to illegal construction, sources from these bodies told VoxNews that they are also conducting verifications for arson, which would be an important turning point. But if the cause is the concession company, should it compensate the residents and the state itself?
The damage is colossal, both to private and state property, while subsequent investigations may clarify even the suspicions. But the fact is evident and this is witnessed by thousands of residents of Delvina, who have seen the enormous flame that continues unabated at the source day and night.

History has shown that the management of underground resources has been a major failure. All companies, whether hydrocarbons, minerals, or others, make their balance sheets with losses. Meanwhile, it cannot be otherwise with Delvina Gas, where there are strong suspicions that the money goes to tax havens.
All operations are carried out on an island managed by the British, but it acts independently and has fiscal benefits and no one controls it. It is no coincidence that Sokol Meqemeja, or those who had the firm before him, registered it in that country. And if something happens in Albania, who is responsible?
It seems like a scheme to lose track, but now with some changes made, every company must declare the owner. And the owner is evident, lives and has assets in Albania, where subsequent investigations, whether for illegal construction or even suspicions of arson, can seize accounts or properties in his name.
