The Socialist Party's lists of candidates for deputies for the May 11, 2025 elections include several individuals who have family ties to current deputies.
An example is Xhenis Çelaj , who is the daughter of MP Agron Çela .
It is included in the closed list of the Shkodra district.
VoxNews has conducted research on the "new generation" who are reclaiming the seats of MPs that their family members are leaving.
1- Socialist MP Ornaldo Rakipi , son of former MP Aqif Rakipi, received nearly 16,000 personal votes in the 2021 elections in the Tirana race. Orlando is running again on May 11 on the open list to retain his seat as MP.
2- The SP candidate for MP on the Tirana list, Erion Malaj, is the son of Petrit Malaj, the famous actor and former candidate for MP in the Kukës district who did not win the mandate. But it seems that his father's ambition to take the MP's seat will be achieved by his son.
3- Admir Kadeli has been included in the list of candidates for deputies of the Socialist Party in the Lezha district for the upcoming parliamentary elections. He is listed on the open list along with other candidates. Admir is the son of Gjovalin Kadeli, a former deputy well-known in Albanian politics. Gjovalin Kadeli has served as a deputy of the Socialist Party and then of the Socialist Movement for Integration.
4- Arben Pëllumbi is the candidate on the open list for deputies of the Socialist Party for the Tirana district. He is also the son of the former socialist deputy, Servet Pëllumbi, one of the founders of the SP. Deputy Arben Pëllumbi is running again on May 11 on the open list to retain the deputy's seat.
5- Former MP Aqif Rakipi , in addition to his son Ornaldo, will also re-enter Parliament with his niece's husband Saimir Hasalla , the SP candidate in Elbasan. Saimir Hasalla broke the quotient in 2021 and was included in the winning list of socialist MPs. Hasalla is running again on May 11 on the open list to retain the MP's seat in the Elbasan district.
Rama had previously warned that the new list would bring " new blood ", meaning that a significant number of current MPs would not be part of the next Parliament.
But it seems that the " new blood " that will enter parliament are the family members of former Socialist Party deputies.
