Even photovoltaics are not giving any effect, Albania buys 26.5 million euros of energy, and the "tigers" of Vlora are also on fire!

Albania is facing a severe energy situation as a result of the long drought and high consumption resulting from hot temperatures.

Official data from KESH shows that the country's water reserves are currently 31 percent lower than the multi-year average for the period and almost 42 percent less than in the same period last year.

According to KESH data, the country's water reserves currently stand at 777.3 gigabytes, out of 1,122 gigabytes, which is the multi-year average for the period, and 1,332.3 gigabytes, which was in June of last year.

This situation has forced KESH to look for other energy sources, from aggressive import purchases to production from Vlora ships.

To meet the following week's consumption, KESH purchased over 47 thousand megawatts of energy, while another 145 thousand megawatts were purchased spread over time with a delivery profile until July 31.

According to the auction held, the Corporation contracted a total of over 200 thousand megawatts of energy, with an average price ranging from 132 to 135 euros per megawatt, bringing the total cost of the auction to 26.5 million euros.

This is a large amount of energy purchased in a single week, which proves that the country is now powerless to meet energy consumption with domestic production.

Meanwhile, in addition to the import purchase, KESH has put the two Vlora ships into operation with considerable capacity. The two tigers produce energy especially during the evening peak hours, where consumption remains high, while production shrinks due to the outage of photovoltaics.

Official data from the Regulatory Authority shows that in the first four months of this year, the two floating power plants produced over 41 thousand megawatts of energy, but they are now producing at a much higher capacity due to the severe energy situation./ Kapital
