"7 x 7 = 0 Mandates" - Lulzim Basha retires from politics, failed with his new party

The Euro-Atlantic Coalition led by Lulzim Basha, which promised to surprise in the May 11 elections by taking 20 to 30 mandates, ended up with zero mandates and an early political retirement.

On the eve of the end of the vote counting for the May 11 elections, Basha will likely not win a single seat in the Assembly, going down in history not as a leader who transformed the opposition, but as one who managed to destroy every version of it he led – from the DP, to the re-established DP, and now to the Euro-Atlantic Coalition that could not find the Atlantic in any ballot box.

During the campaign, Basha became known for the slogan “7 x 7 = 313,” a reference to the imprisonment of socialist officials. But today, the election result rewrote the formula more precisely: “7 x 7 = 0 mandates.” An equation that better reflects the electoral reality of a leader who fails to win, even when competing only with himself.

Lulzim Basha will be remembered as one of the politicians most devoted to defeat — an art that he turned into a political philosophy. He now joins the club of “retirees without mandates,” leaving behind an indelible legacy: how the opposition should not be.
