Government decision: Albania and Serbia towards agreement on social security recognition

The Council of Ministers has approved in principle the agreement on social security between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Serbia, paving the way for the mutual recognition of the contributions of citizens who have worked in both countries.

The decision was taken in support of Article 100 of the Constitution and Law No. 43/2016 "On International Agreements in the Republic of Albania", upon the proposal of the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation.

The agreement aims to guarantee social security rights for Albanian and Serbian citizens, ensuring the transfer and recognition of insurance periods, pension benefits and other insurance-related benefits.

This decision enters into force immediately and constitutes a concrete step towards improving the social protection of citizens who live or have lived and worked in both countries.
