The final energy consumption during the past year suffered a decrease according to data from the Energy Regulatory Agency. According to ERE, the decrease in total electricity consumption for 2023 is about 6.4%, compared to the maximum consumption for 2021.
Also, according to the Regulatory Body, the decrease in total electricity consumption has been reflected for all categories of consumers, but especially for consumers who are supplied in the unregulated market, who for the year 2021 have consumed about 1,361 GWh of electricity, for the year 2022, about 929 GWh of electricity and for the year 2023, about 858 GWh.
"This decrease in consumption has also come as a result of the energy crisis, where many businesses installed alternative power generation plants as self-producers", - estimates the Energy Regulatory Authority.
During the year 2023, the Distribution System Operator has granted the status of self-producer to 723 customers with a total capacity of about 60.5 MWp, while in total since the start of the implementation of the decision, which allowed the installation of these plants, there are 1532 self-producers, with total installed capacity of 153.5 MWp.
However, the number of requests to obtain this status was even higher last year, as 982 applications were registered with the DSO. Meanwhile, the highest number of contracts and installed capacity is held by private consumers, while families are ranked after them. Also, it turns out that there are 27 institutions that have installed solar panels for self-consumer purposes, as well as 6 water utilities.
