The Transparency Board has set new hydrocarbon prices in the country, reducing the price of diesel by 3 lek, which will now be sold at 202 lek per liter.

The Board has also changed the price of gasoline, which has been reduced by 1 lek and will be sold for 188 lek per liter. While the price of gas has not been changed again.

The announcement states that the prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 20th, at 6:20 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

Board Announcement:

The Transparency Board, on May 20, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard should be no more than 202 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 190 lek/liter.

The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 188 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 176 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 20th, at 6:20 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
