Albanian Railways is looking for the company that will build the train stations along the Tirana - Durrës railway line and the new branch towards Rinas airport. The public procurement procedure has been published on the website of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as one of the banks that has granted loans for this railway work, while interested companies must submit their bids until July 9.

The construction of the station buildings is one of the components that is not included in the works currently being carried out for the construction of this railway line, and for this reason they are being tendered separately.

Meanwhile, just a few days ago it was announced that currently 70% of the volume of works and 90% of the works of art have been completed. Also, it was announced that the works are expected to be completed in March 2025.

However, in addition to the stations, there are also 2 components expected to be completed in the future. It is about the electrification of this line, as well as the extension to the new boulevard, where the station was before its demolition.

This, as the current project includes the construction of the railway line, up to Kashari station. At the same time, the government's decision on the expropriation of the owners who are affected by the implementation of the project and who are mainly positioned along the new branch that goes towards Rinas airport is also expected.

Putting this line into operation is expected to give a boost to railway transport in Albania, bringing not only a reduction in transport costs for passengers and goods, but also a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and consequently environmental and health benefits .
