The majority of Albanian citizens live in an apartment which varies from 40-69 square meters. Referring to Censit2023 data, our country counts a total of 726,325 ordinary inhabited dwellings, with an increase of 16,460 units compared to 2011.

According to INSTAT, the highest weight to the total, specifically 341 983, is made up of units with a maximum surface area of ??69 m2, space which is mostly shared between 2 to 5 members.

While 172,398 are apartments with a space of 77-99 square meters, in which mostly families of 2-5 members live.

What is noticeable from the data is a significant number of the population living in less than 40 square meters, where the number of these units is recorded as 127,552, and a significant part is occupied by families with 4 and 5 members, even though the space it is very small. This is also due to the rising prices of housing units, where citizens, not being able to afford the cost of buying or renting a large apartment, are oriented to small 1+1 houses or studios, and why do they not offer normal living space for an individual.

The data also show that the number of citizens who can afford large apartments is small. Thus, there are only 54,559 apartments from 100-129 square meters, and the richest or those who have spaces over 130 square meters make up the smallest figure. In the country, only 18,625 apartments with a large area are registered, which are available to families of 1-5 members.

The figures also show the economic level of Albanian citizens and their financial ability to afford a normal life, where apparently the smallest part of the population manages to provide the square meters for comfort and dedicated spaces for each family member.

Of the total number of inhabited dwellings, 360,233 are private houses, 261,594 are apartments and the rest are semi-detached houses and terraced houses.
