82.5% of Albanian families are home owners, the number of apartments increases by over 70 thousand

In 12 years, the number of new dwellings built in Albania for residential purposes has increased by 70 thousand 467. The official data of the 2023 Census show that 1,082,529 ordinary dwellings are currently registered.

Referring to the data, 47% of Albanian citizens live in individual houses, 39.% in buildings, 8.1% in partially detached apartments and 5% live in terraced houses.

As for ownership, the data show that 82.5% of households own the apartment, 8.8% of households rent, and 8.7% of households have other housing arrangements.

Regarding the age of the houses, it turns out that 26.1% were built before 1981, 37.5% were built from 1981 to 2000, and 36.4% were built since 2001.
