The European Central Bank is expected to lower the basic interest rate again today.
Slow economic growth and rapidly falling inflation are the factors driving further interest rate cuts.
For market investors, the question is not whether interest rates will be cut, but what will happen next.
"The ECB will not give us a manual for the future. Policymakers will remain dependent on data and inflation," says Althea Spinozzi head of Saxo Bank.
Economists predict a rate cut of 25 percentage points.
"Already, we have all the ingredients for the start of an expansion cycle, but one that is probably not linked to a recession - and that's an unusual set-up," said John Bilton, one of the executives at JP Morgan.
