More tourists, but left their "wallet" at home, spent 31 euros less

Despite the high number of foreign nationals in the country during the first half of the year, the money spent was low compared to expectations at the beginning of the year. The 4.57 million foreign tourists who registered until June spent an average of 426.6 euros per person or individual.

Data from the Institute of Statistics related to those of the Bank of Albania show that compared to the same period a year ago, a tourist spent almost 31 euros less.

Although the total expenditure of foreign citizens in Albania was about 1.9 billion euros, or in other words 400 million euros more than the first 6 months of last year, the increase in prices in the coastal areas of the country made these citizens think twice to put your hand in your pocket.

An influencing factor also plays the informal money that circulates in Albania as many small businesses in the country choose not to declare their turnovers.

Another trajectory was followed by the Albanians who, favored both by the cheap prices of travel tickets, but also by the devaluation of the euro, spent more money.

During the January-June period of this year, Albanians took out of their pockets a full 1.2 billion euros, or in other words, an Albanian spent about 340 euros on vacation. Compared to the same period a year ago, the average expenses for an Albanian to spend holidays abroad increased by around 22 euros.
