There are news stories that you refuse to believe, even when you see them written and rebroadcast everywhere.
I just found out that Enrik Mehmeti has passed away. Only 40 years old. A fellow journalist, father of two children, and a man I knew well, not only through the screen, but also through the communication we had.
The irony of fate can be ruthless. On June 10, he happily posted the news that a young man had survived a motorcycle accident, urging: “ Be careful with motorcycles at all times. ” Today, such an accident cut his life short.
I spoke with him a week ago. He repeated his invitation to spend a few days of vacation with his family in Vlora. Such tragedies make you realize that "tomorrow" is never guaranteed.
Enriku was one of those journalists who breathed with the rhythm of the event. For years, he reported tirelessly from Vlora, always on the spot.
He had that passion of the generation that lives with a phone in hand, with the rush and good will to be the first to know where the news was.
Tonight, unfortunately, the news is itself.
It is extremely difficult to find words when a life is cut short so early and so suddenly. There is no comfort that can ease the pain of his family, his wife, his two children, his relatives and all his colleagues.
Rest in peace, Enrik.
We are used to consuming news every minute and often forget that behind every report stands a person, a parent, a colleague.
Tonight we lost one of them.
