In Tirana, the American Ambassador Yuri Kim said today that the appointments in Justice should not mark a return to the past, but should be oriented towards the future. The statement made during an activity of the High Judicial Council, comes a few days before the High Council of Justice elects the new head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, a process she has spoken about earlier, stressing that she should not be manipulated.

In the presence of the representatives of the main institutions of Justice, American Ambassador Yuri Kim once again expressed the support of the United States to the Reform in Justice. While evaluating the results achieved, she underlined that it is not time to say that it is enough. "Now is the time to push forward", emphasized the ambassador, teaching the continuation of the work to significantly reduce the number of backlogged cases or to complete with all its members, the Supreme Court.

For the American ambassador, the decisions of the justice institutions should not lead to a return to the past: "Let's make sure that the decisions that are made about who will be the head of this or that institution, who becomes a prosecutor, who is there, who becomes a judge , who vows, who doesn't, how the decisions come out - let's make sure that those decisions we make, direct us towards the future, that they don't keep us in place, that they don't take us backwards. We can't go back".

Her comment clearly sounds like a bell ringing before the selection of the new head of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime. Even more so, when the deadline for submitting candidacies had just closed, through a tweet, Ambassador Kim hinted at possible attempts to interfere in the selection of the next leader. The process "must not be manipulated by those who seek to block or influence justice, by those who prefer the old ways and therefore oppose justice reform. Such tactics belong to a past that has done much harm. SPAK, as well as justice reform, should be for the future of Albania", she pointed out.

Në garë janë tre prokurorë, Adnan Xholi, Altin Dumani dhe Edvin Kondili. Këta dy të fundit ishin pjesë dhe e garës së zhvilluar 3 vjet më parë kur u zgjodh zoti Arben Kraja.

Ambasadorja Kim është një njohëse e mirë e çështjeve të drejtësisë, duke qenë se qenë se temat e lidhura me Reformën kanë dominuar një pjesë të mirë të axhendës së saj që kur erdhi në Shqipëri. "Jam këtu prej tre vitesh tashmë dhe do jem edhe për pak më gjatë", tha ajo. Një fjali, e cila qartazi dukej një kundërpërgjigje ndaj një njoftimi të pazakontë të shpërndarë javën e shkuar nga ministria e Jashtme shqiptare.

Në thyerje të çdo praktike diplomatike, ministria mori kompetencat e një vendi tjetër, duke bërë të ditur se Shtetet e Bashkuara kishin nisur procedurat për zëvendësimin e ambasadores Kim, e cila është në përmbyllje të mandatit të saj.
