The General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Albania has reacted after the serious incident that occurred this Monday in the premises of the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, where Judge Astrit Kalaja was killed and two other people were injured.

The Prosecutor General assesses as very serious the event that occurred today in the premises of the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, which, in addition to causing the loss of life of one person and the injury of two others, has at the same time fundamentally violated the functioning of the rule of law.

The Prosecutor General conveys his condolences to the family of Judge Astrit Kalaja and calls on everyone to be aware and contribute to strengthening the security of magistrates in all aspects.

The Prosecutor General has requested the Prosecution Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation of the event in cooperation with the State Police.
