"We met in Durrës", the Albanian woman marries a Serb: Now I feel

An Albanian from Durrës, Mira Dreaj, got married yesterday in Leposavic to Serbian Dejan Slavkovic. They were married in the Orthodox Church in Soçanica, as the Albanian had recently converted to Orthodoxy.

After the wedding in the church, they walked through the streets of Leposavič in the north of Kosovo, even near the municipality building where the Serb protests are continuing and where the mayor of the municipality, Lulzim Hetemi, is standing.

Mira said that she now feels Serbian, and that according to her there are many Albanians of Serbian origin who do not know such a thing.

"I married Dejan for love, we met in Durrës. Our acquaintance and companionship lasted six months. I am happy to return to the faith of my ancestors. Now I feel Serbian. There are many people in Albania who are of Serbian origin, and they don't know or until now they were forbidden to know", - said Mira.

While the groom, Dejani said that Mira told him that she will give birth to their children as Orthodox, in Kosovo.

"Thank you Mira for agreeing to become one. Even if Mira had not accepted my faith, I would not have been angry. That was her wish. This told me - I want to give birth to your children as Orthodox in your Kosovo and this made me very happy'' - said the Serb, Dejan.

The Serb gave this speech as he passed by the obstacles where the KFOR troops are standing, near the municipality building where the new mayor has been staying for 16 days.
