The Belgian media have devoted an article to the Albanian mafia that operates in Brussels but also in other strategic cities of Belgium.

According to the Belgian media, the Albanian mafia is in the top 3 criminal organizations that control illegal activities in Brussels.

There is a strong competition between Moroccan and Albanian gangs.

" Today, the Albanian mafia is in the top 3, together with the Belgian-Dutch and Moroccan organizations ," said division commissioner François Farcy for La Dernier Heure.

" Criminal clans are on a level playing field. They are everywhere in Belgium and the world, and in particular in Brussels and Wallonia, but there are many in Liege as well. There are many gang leaders hiding in Dubai from where they pull the strings of crime in Belgium ," he added.

The statements were made after an anti-drug operation in Liège, where a cocaine and cannabis distribution group led by Albanian bandits was dismantled.

In total, 18 people were arrested, 11 of whom were placed on arrest warrants for drug trafficking and participation in a criminal organization.
