SPAK orders new inspections as part of the investigations it is conducting against former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, for abuses with hundreds of millions of euros in road tenders.
Sources at the Special Prosecution Office confirmed to News 24 that at least 15 checks have been approved by court decision within the framework of the Balluku file, including her family members.
A search was conducted at the apartment of Mired Reçi, the son of Belinda Balluku's aunt, as well as other people connected to him, as part of the ongoing investigations into his assets.
Mired Reçi, it turns out, was a partner with 49% of the shares in two companies: “XL MARKET” shpk and “Hippo Tregu Elektrik” shpk. The other partner is Meland Qirko, brother-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, married to her sister, Pamela Qirko.
During these checks, which follow those of December 2025 and January of this year, it is learned that mobile phones were seized again, documents that, according to prosecutors, serve the investigation of the case.
As part of the investigation, Special Prosecutors have requested information abroad, through letters of request.
Belinda Balluku is a defendant in the tender for the construction of the Llogara Tunnel and under investigation for the lots of the Greater Ring Road worth hundreds of millions of euros.
Two security measures are in force against the former number two in the government: a ban on leaving the country and a suspension from exercising functions.
While the socialist majority previously rejected SPAK's request for permission to arrest Balluk, given the recent checks and the new phase the investigations have entered, it remains to be seen whether the Special Prosecutors will renew their request for permission to arrest the former number two in the government.
