The race for the post of General Director of the State Police , who will succeed the resigned Muhamet Rrumbullaku , has officially ended and the 5 names listed and evaluated by the Ad-Hoc Commission have been learned .

Today (September 30), the Ministry of the Interior confirmed the completion of the process and Minister  Ervin Hoxha  announced that he has proposed to Prime Minister Edi Rama as the winning candidate of the race, precisely the director of the Elbasan District Police, Ilir Proda .

The latter was verified by SPAK after suspicions about the de-conspiracy operation of the "Copja" file in Elbasan, where many of the suspects could not be arrested and their phones were seized.

After the verifications, he continued the competition and has already been proposed for chief police.

But who is Ilir Proda:

His career from a simple officer, up to the high duties as Head of the Commissariat no. 2 in Tirana during the year 2014, where he was also denounced for an incident denounced by a 19-year-old girl for violence, but which was found innocent by the SCA from the investigations, up to the position of chief police officer of Elbasan and now proposed as General Director of the State Police.

After graduating from the Security Academy in 2005, he worked as an officer at Police Station no. 3 and 4 until 2012, to then move to the State Police for a year and then as head of Police Station no. 2 in Tirana.

After the incident of 2014, the head of the Commissariat moved to Bulqiza for two years and then to the General Directorate, to the Anti-Drug and Anti-Crime sectors for three years.

In 2019, he was appointed deputy director in Korça and in 2021 with the same position in Elbasan, where he was then appointed director in 2023, a position he currently holds.

- August 2005- November 2011, Police Station No. 3, Tirana

-November 2011-March 2012, Police Station No. 4, Tirana

-March 2012- June 2013, General Directorate of the State Police, section against crimes against life and personal freedom

-June 2013- October 2013, in the Police of Lezha

- October 2013- December 2014 , Head of Police Station No. 2, Tirana

- December 2014 - February 2016 , Head of Bulqiza Police Station

- February 2016 - May 2017 , Section for the investigation of narcotics in the General Directorate of the State Police

-May 2017 - July 2019 , General Directorate, Unit for the investigation of crimes against the person and property

-July 2019-October 2021 , Deputy Director for the investigation of crime in Korça

-October 2021-March 2023 , Deputy Director for the investigation of crimes in Elbasan

-March 2023 and following , Director of the Elbasan Police Local Directorate.
