Julian Mërtiri, the lawyer of the former Minister of the Environment, Lefter Koka, has described the accusations against his client regarding the incinerators as absurd.

Speaking about this issue in the show Zona Zero on Top Neës, Mërtiri stated that none of the three charges against Koka have been proven guilty, giving the relevant reasons.

"Not all the defendants had requested a shortened trial. The evidence collected by the prosecution in 1 and a half years is complete, 120,000 charges. Unproven charges, guilt is not proven for the three charges brought against Lefter Koka. If the session takes place in a period of two months, I believe there will be a decision. Reporting by a political party, unacceptable.

The two proceedings had been joined, two incinerators with the same charges from the same party.

All three accusations are unfounded. He is accused of abuse of office, without having a concrete duty at this concession. There is no evidence in the file and there is no remorse to say that there was cooperation with the members of the commission. Regarding corruption, he says that he received the money after 5 or 6 years, which is not true, at a time when he was neither a minister nor held any position. There are 0 properties added for Mr. Koka's family members.” - stated lawyer Julian Mërtiri.

Furthermore, Lefter Koka's lawyer stated that there are accusations of corruption for the Elbasan incinerator, but according to him, SPAK declares that the investment has been completed 100%.

Meanwhile, former prosecutor Eugen Beci stated that the investigation should be more in-depth since corruption cannot be proven through documents after 6-7 years.

"The summary trial does not mean that you have accepted the charges. It is impossible for the corruption of 2014 to be proven in 2020 through documents. The investigation should have been more thorough." - said Beci.

According to the former prosecutor, the Special Court should dismiss SPAK's investigations.
