Albanian consumers are buying potatoes at stratospheric prices. A kilogram of potatoes is sold at retail outlets in Tirana for 100-120 Lek per kg.

Albanian farmers not oriented to the needs of the market, besides the fact that they are exposed to colossal losses, also create problems in the normal supply of the market with the country's products. They say the reason for the high price is the low production, as the plants were damaged by frost in the spring.

"It is very weak with the production. 60-70 ALL. Collection points and the internal market. I don't even get 40% of the production. Moisture and frost damaged them. In a week, he wants 4 sprays of 200 thousand lek",  said a farmer in Divjaka.

Not only consumers, but also traders complain about the high price. Compared to a year ago, the price of potatoes has increased significantly from 60 lek per kg.

"The people fled because there is nothing to buy them with. The potato is from Divjaka. 100 ALL in bulk. In past years, when the new one comes out, the old one is free. But it is too high. We get 90 Lek wholesale, for years we used to get 40 Lek wholesale", said a merchant for "Report TV".

And while the farmers in Divjaka say that they give the potato at 70 lek per kg, wholesale price.

"So far with 70 ALL. We are giving it to the refrigerators. There are also from the domestic market, collectors. For 1 dynam I expected 40 quintals. But I will take up to 20 quintals", said a farmer. "You will spray 4 times. You have no benefit but you have nothing to do. The land must be worked," said another.
