Former Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali has reacted strongly to the sentencing, to a total of 81 years in prison, of former KLA leaders by the Special Chamber in The Hague.
In a Facebook post, Spiropali writes that Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi were not convicted in The Hague, but the language used condemned the entire liberation war.
'' A court can determine individual responsibility. But it cannot rewrite as a criminal project the struggle of a people for freedom. The KLA was the response to Serbian state violence and the foundation on which Kosovo's freedom was built ,'' the former minister emphasizes.
She has proposed that the Albanian Parliament and the Kosovo Parliament should immediately adopt a joint resolution that defends the historical truth of the KLA war.

Milosevic's Serbia sentenced Kosovo's Hashim Thaci to ten years in prison.
For 1 reason only: Because Hashim Thaçi did not choose the yoke, but armed resistance against slavery.
Today, in The Hague, four individuals were not cruelly convicted; Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi. Through the language used and the political narrative, what was in fact for Albanians and the whole world, regardless of how they formulated it, was a liberation enterprise, was condemned.
A court can determine individual responsibility. But it cannot rewrite as a criminal project the struggle of a people for freedom. The KLA was the response to Serbian state violence and the foundation on which Kosovo's freedom was built.
The Albanian Parliament and the Kosovo Parliament must immediately adopt a joint resolution that defends the historical truth of the liberation war and opposes any attempt to blame the KLA and an entire people.
